Since we announced Takaichi's new desk duty in traffic court more litigants have come forward to show why he may finally have been removed from family law. Awarding custody to convicted felons and favored fee awards for dirty lawyers tops the list. Now attention is turning to Judge James Towery. Towery left the State Bar embroiled as Chief Trial Counsel for the Bar after bribery and corruption allegations against the lawyers fighting Dole Food Company were ignored. Towery didn't even make it a year at the Bar before bribery allegations bubbled forward , yet he was rewarded a judge appointment in Santa Clara Family courts where he appears to be able to do more damage than he ever did at the State Bar. Towery, who once appeared before Grilli as a lawyer, appears to be shuffling back and forth to Grilli's court where the two are giving fee awards to lawyers they like , and leaving those they don't out in the cold. It is bribery . It is corruption. What was Santa Clara County thinking appointing a judge who had to flee the State Bar for ethics violations?
