Petition updateSupport the HOPE Training Act: Specialist-Led Training to Protect Delaware Families‼️Six Months With No Contact‼️

It has now been six months since we’ve been allowed to see or speak with our daughter, S. 💔
DFS took custody in April — not because of abuse in our home, but because S, who lives with Reactive Attachment Disorder, told us she wasn’t ready to come home after discharge from Terry Children’s Center. She was afraid she couldn’t keep herself safe — and instead of supporting her with therapy and family-based care, DFS labeled it “neglect” and took custody.
Since then:
• She had arm surgery in August with no family by her side.
• She started high school without her family there to support her.
• Her homecoming is coming up — another milestone we’re missing.
• DFS canceled her attachment and family therapy, the very tools meant to help reunite us.
• She was moved 2 hours away from us, isolating her further.
• At her August 27th hearing, S.,herself told the court she wanted her family — but still, no communication, no reunification plan.
This is what happens when professionals making life-changing decisions for kids are not required to have training in childhood mental health.
The HOPE Through Training Act would change this by requiring specialist-led training for DFS, Family Court, and providers — so trauma-driven behaviors are met with healing, not separation.
💙💛 Please keep signing and sharing this petition. Families deserve HOPE, and children like S. deserve to be with the people who love them!!
