Support the Future of PVCC's 3-Year-Old Kindergarten – A Respectful Request for Reconsider
The issue
Plenty Valley Christian College has been built on a vision of providing Christ-centred education that nurtures children and families from their earliest years through to Year 12. For many families, the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten is the beginning of that journey—a place where children first experience the College's community, values and Christian education.
We acknowledge and appreciate the difficult responsibility entrusted to the Executive Principal and the Board in making decisions that will shape the future of the College. We also recognise the remarkable growth PVCC is experiencing and the need to plan wisely for the years ahead.
However, we respectfully ask the Board to reconsider the recently announced decision to discontinue the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program from 2027.
We believe the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten is more than an individual program—it is an important gateway into the life of the College.
Many families begin their relationship with PVCC through the early learning years before continuing into 4-Year-Old Kindergarten, Prep and beyond. Removing this first point of entry may unintentionally encourage prospective families to begin their educational journey elsewhere, reducing the opportunity for them to become lifelong members of the PVCC community.
As parents and supporters of the College, we believe there may be alternative ways to achieve the College's strategic goals while preserving this valuable program. We respectfully ask that options such as restructuring, revised delivery models or other sustainable solutions be explored before the program is permanently discontinued.
This petition is not intended as criticism of the Executive Principal, the Board or the dedicated staff of PVCC. Rather, it is an expression of our shared desire to see the College continue to flourish while preserving the complete educational pathway that has been part of its mission and identity for many years.
Through this petition, we respectfully request that the Board:
- Pause the implementation of the decision to discontinue the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten.
- Engage in meaningful consultation with affected current and prospective families.
- Explore alternative options that could allow the program to continue in a sustainable way.
- Meet with representatives of the parent community to hear their perspectives before the decision is finalised.
Plenty Valley Christian College was founded through faith, vision and sacrifice by people who believed deeply in Christian education. We hope to honour that legacy by working together—in a spirit of partnership, respect and prayer—to seek the best outcome for both current and future generations of PVCC families.
If you believe the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten plays an important role in the future of Plenty Valley Christian College, we invite you to sign this petition and respectfully ask the Board to reconsider its decision.
