Hello, my name is Randie Smith, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt project proposal that could bring significant benefits to the Town of Taber. As a passionate cat lover, I can only imagine the heartache of having one of my beloved cats accidentally get out and become lost. The worry and distress of knowing a pet is out there, scared and alone, is a feeling all cat owners can relate to. We all want our furry family members to be safe and secure.

In response to this concern, I've developed an innovative and compassionate project: the Community Cat Haven. This initiative aims to manage stray and lost cats in an effective, humane manner while also enriching our community by creating a small, family-friendly tourism feature. The Community Cat Haven is a secure outdoor enclosure that offers stray and lost cats safe access to food, shelter, and warmth. Not only does this reduce the roaming of cats, but it also supports the practice of Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR), a proven method to control cat populations without harm.

Implementing the Community Cat Haven can transform the way we handle stray cats, turning what is often seen as a nuisance into a community asset. Visitors and residents alike can enjoy observing happy, healthy cats thriving in their haven. Moreover, children and families can engage with educational opportunities related to animal care and rescue efforts, fostering a love and respect for animals from an early age.

This project is not only a compassionate way to manage stray cats but also a cost-effective solution compared to traditional methods that involve animal control services. It encourages community involvement and responsibility, providing an opportunity for volunteers to contribute to animal welfare.
