I have experienced the trauma of losing a home three times since 2005. First to Hurricane Katrina, then to a house contaminated with Chinese Drywall, and finally to a devastating house fire in 2023. I understand the pain and struggle that comes with such loss. A home is more than just four walls; it's our foundation, our cornerstone on which we build our lives.

Today, I am advocating for the Cornerstone Project - an initiative aimed at helping vulnerable individuals and families experiencing housing crises in Tangipahoa Parish. The project aims to provide safe and affordable housing along with wrap-around supportive services and workforce development.

The need for this project is urgent as many families are struggling with housing insecurity. The Cornerstone Project will not only provide immediate relief but also ensure long-term stability by helping these families become self-sufficient members of our community.

We cannot ignore the fact that safe housing is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to all regardless of their circumstances. We have an opportunity here to make real change happen in Tangipahoa Parish by supporting this initiative.
