Support the changes on Longley Road for Greater Eco-Friendliness

The Issue

As residents of an eco-friendly neighborhood, we pride ourselves in our commitment to the environment. However, the barriers on Longley Road seem to defy this ethos. Their presence has led to increased fuel consumption, as residents have to drive around 2.6 miles to travel from one part of the Graylingwell estate to the other to simply park their cars in their parking bays after taking their shopping home, instead of the shorter distance it should be.

Similarly, for residents on the university side of Longley Road, a trip to Aldi or surrounding areas - a mere half a mile away without barriers - turns into a lengthy round trip of 4 miles. In a time where reducing carbon footprints is more critical than ever, this unexpected hurdle contributes to an unnecessary addition of CO2 into our atmosphere.

We believe in the importance of accessibility and sustainability, and we implore the officials to listen to the residents of the graylingwell park estate and either remove these permanent barriers and put in speed bumps on Longley Road, offer all graylingwell residents a card for the bus gates on graylingwell estate or to make Longley road a one way system and keep the bollards down. By doing so, we will not only reduce our fuel consumption but also maintain the eco-friendly spirit of our neighborhood and limit our environmental impact. We urge you to stand with us and our environment. Please sign this petition to have the barriers on Longley Road permanently removed.
