As ratepayers, we hold a vested interest in the governance of our city and want to ensure that it is managed correctly and effectively. Yet, recent events paint a concerning picture of our local governance, leaving us with little confidence in our elected councillors and prompting this petition.

By demanding the Public Inquiry into the administration of Liverpool City Council and delaying the council election, we propose a necessary pause to reassess and restructure for the betterment of our city. Together, as the concerned citizens of Liverpool, let us advocate for accountability and proper management in our local government.

Good Morning Mr Hoenig MP

You made the right decision to Initiate a Public Inquiry, Suspend Liverpool City Council and postpone the council elections until AFTER the public inquiry is concluded and a report is presented to you for further assessment of the situation within Liverpool Council.

I and many Residents and Ratepayers welcome YOUR announcement of a public inquiry as has been evident by the many comments on Social Media (Facebook) in numerous Liverpool Community Groups and Forums.

It is essential that these serious concerns are investigated to their fullest extent in an open and transparent forum.

This term of Liverpool Council has been marred with questionable conduct by the current Mayor of Liverpool from the very outset when the previous CEO Dr Eddie Jackson was terminated by the Mayor of Liverpool Ned Mannoun and his voting block in February 2022.

That PLUS the restructuring of the departments which lead to the resignation of 5 out of the 6 experienced directors and other Senior Managers within a short space of time have lead to the situation that Liverpool Council finds itself in right now.

Liverpool deserves a Council with integrity that is squarely focused on the needs of our community which is made up of over 140 different nationalities and over 40 different religious groups.

The interim report that has been published confirms what Liverpool residents have known for some time, which is that a dysfunctional and toxic workplace environment at Liverpool City Council is widespread across the organisation and is impacting on its capacity to perform its basic functions for residents and ratepayers.

I look forward to this process being able to help address the issues of concern identified in the interim report  and other concerns that I am sure will be uncovered with a public inquiry.

Please stick to your guns and move forward with the investigation and suspension of Liverpool City Council.

Yours Sincerely
