Remove homeowners association solar energy prohibitions in Indiana

The Issue

I live in a neighborhood in Bloomington, IN where the placement of solar panels on my roof is forbidden by the Home Owners Association covenants.  Apparently, this is a common problem in Indiana. In 2017, Senator Aaron Freeman submitted SB 500 that "prohibits a homeowners association from adopting or enforcing certain rules, covenants, declarations of restrictions, and other governing documents concerning solar energy systems."  Sen. Freeman will re-introduce the bill in 2018.  Please sign this petition in support of his effort.
