Siobhain McDonagh, Labour MP for Mitcham and Morden, has taken to the floor of the House of Commons to continue to raise our case after being granted a half hour debate with a Government Minister.

She says "I've misunderstood the definition of 'fairness' because whilst Sainsbury's have scrapped the bonus scheme for their shopfloor staff they've astonishingly awarded an eye watering bonus of £427,000 to CEO Mike Coupe." She goes on to describe a meeting with Sainsbury's senior staff: "I was most astonished to hear that the most longstanding colleagues losing thousands of pounds per year described as 'anomalies'".
It really cuts to hear yourself described in such a way, as a mere blip on a piece of paper instead of a person who has dedicated 20 years of loyal service to a company who I thought stood for great British values.
It gives me such hope to hear that campaigners on our behalf have taken to the Annual General Meeting of Sainsbury's shareholders!
At the meeting, several questions were asked directly to the Sainsbury's board in front of all the shareholders about the financial future of me and my 9,000 colleagues who are set to see our salaries slashed. But Mr Tyler, our Chairman, gave the most disheartening reply: "we have nothing to be ashamed of".
Mr Tyler:
1) You can easily put this right. Most of us losing out are older people who will find it difficult to find new jobs, despite have shown decades of loyalty to Sainsbury's. Putting us under severe financial pressure in such hard times IS something to apologise for.
2) You argue that this is an act of fairness so that no staff are paid more than others for doing the same job. THEN WHY ON EARTH DID YOU ENGINEER THE SITUATION? You CHOSE to give new starters less and less. And why will you still pay Argos colleagues in the same store even less!
I'll have to sign my new contract very soon, committing myself to an organisation that sees me as an anomaly. All I have left now is hope that Sainsbury's will change their mind.
Please everyone keep sharing and retweeting, we must keep going until Sainsbury's realise how unfair they are being. Thank you all.
