HAPPY 2018 + SO Many Updates!

Hello Fellow Texans + Advocates! Like you, I've been poppin' full of awesome opportunities in the new year to talk about #recovery in Texas! One of the most exciting, is this petition reaching now more than 500 signatures!! Another exciting update, I've talked with policy makers and we are slated to share our requests in the coming weeks! Your signatures on this petition and the letter we will provide Texas legislators is WHY they listen! Our friends at the capitol want to hear from us and especially now. My conversation by phone with them was SO fulfilling and informative. I expect my visit will be, too. During my chat with Representative Price's office, I learned they spent their holiday break reading books about substance use disorder and recovery. I learned they are taking quite seriously about the need to provide access and funding to prevention, treatment, AND RECOVERY! I learned they are committed to hearing what we have to say and are welcoming our voice at the table! HOW COOL! Here's where you come in.... Keep your eyes on this Change.org site and petition. I'll be sending out three emails / updates for you to engage with: 1) We've created a poll for you. The poll will ask what areas are most important to you for policy making and why. It's SUPER critical you take the survey so I can understand what is important to you! 2) Once I have a date secured for meeting with Chairman Price's office and other SUD committee members as well as Senate policy makers, I'll send out a notice. You will be invited to meet me at the Texas Capitol! 3) I'm developing, as we speak, a document which outlines the process of policy making in Texas for the SUD committees and charges so you can follow along with my / our journey! This will be a tool to help us mobilize Texans in recovery and our allies as we gear up for the legislative session!
