Air Canada's flights Toronto - Delhi and Vancouver - Delhi provide good connectivity to India. Both of these flights have over 90 per cent of Punjabi travelers who after reaching Delhi, have to further travel to Punjab that involves a long-tiring journey of over 10 to 12 hours by road or rail. Even on their return journey the Punjabis have to travel first to Delhi Airport that takes approximately 12 to 15 hours before they can take these flights. Is not that a joke?
It is important to note that both these flights on their to Delhi overfly over Amritsar 45 minutes before reaching their destination. Now, is Air Canada not recognizing Punjabi's ? That Air Canada is not aware of Amritsar ? We do not say that Air Canada should stop its Delhi flights but it is a request from Punjabi populace to at least start seasonal flight to Vancouver - Amritsar, Toronto - Amritsar, the airline can than only see the business potential of flights from Amritsar. It is a certainty that Air Canada can get huge profits from flights to Amritsar, where there is no shortage of travelers. Air Canada can also get pershiable cargo & other export goods from Amritsar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar and other districts of Himachal & Jammu and Kashmir, these export commodities are in great demand in Canada & neighbouring regions of the United States.

The Honorable Minister from Canada Navdeep Bains made a big statement in Delhi that the issue of direct flights to Amritsar is in their agenda, the Honorable members of Parliament Ruby Sahota and Sonia Sidhu also were in support. It was a statement from people’s representatives but was it only a statement. In light of these facts a big request to Punjabis living in Canada to ask their MP’s for raising this issue and talking directly with Air Canada as well as send comminique to Air India about the demand for flights. It may be a direct flight to Amritsar, but the self must be united.
In October / November 2019, the communities world over are celebrating 550th Prakash Utsav of Dhan Baba Nanak Ji and people from across the globe will be visiting the holy places at Sultanpur Lodhi, Dera Baba Nanak, Amritsar Sahib, Batala, Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan). So the issue of initiation of these flights Vancouver - Amritsar, Toronto - Amritsar, London Heathrow - Amritsar becomes even more important. An online petition was started a while back regarding this which is getting a big response. All of you are requested to sign the petition in big numbers so that we can succeed in this noble cause .

ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ - ਦਿੱਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ - ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਚਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਵੇ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ੯੦ ਫੀਸਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯਾਤਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਉਤਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ੧੦ ਕੁ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਬੇ, ਥਕਾਵਟ ਭਰੇ ਸਫਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪਹੁੰਚਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਪਸੀ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰੀਬ ੧੨ ਤੋ ੧੫ ਕੁ ਘੰਟੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਲਈ ਨਿਕਲਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੜ ਸਕਣ। ਕਿ ਇਹ ਖਜਲਖੁਆਰੀ ਨਹੀ ? ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇ ਹੀ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ੪੫ ਮਿੰਟ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਉਪਰੋ ਹੀ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਵਾਪਸੀ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਟ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀ ? ਕਿ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ? ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਕਿ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਟਰਾਇਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ - ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ, ਟੋਰੰਟੋ - ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੇਖੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਚਲ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋ ਵੱਡਾ ਮੁਨਾਫਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿੱਥੇ ਯਾਤਰੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣੀ, ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਤੋ ਲੁਧਿਆਣੇ, ਹੋਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ, ਜੰਮੂੁ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਦਾ ਪੈਰੀਸ਼ੇਬਲ ਕਾਰਗੋ ਵੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ, ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਣ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਗੱਲ ਪ੍ਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਫਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਕੈਬਨਿਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਏਜੰਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਸੰਸਦ ਰੂਬੀ ਸਹੋਤਾ, ਸੋਨੀਆ ਸਿਧੁ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਬਿਆਨ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ। ਹੁਣ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਸਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਸਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੇੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ। ਇਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਪਰ ਆਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕਜੁਟ ਹੋਣਾ ਪੈਣਾ। ਅਕਤੂਬਰ/ਨਵੰਬਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੰਨ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦੇ ੫੫੦ਵੇ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਤੋ ਸੰਗਤ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਪੁਰ ਲੋਧੀ, ਡੇਰਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਬਟਾਲਾ, ਕਰਤਾਰਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ (ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ) ਆਵੇਗੀ, ਫਿਰ ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ - ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ, ਟੋਰੰਟੋ - ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਇੱਕ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਵੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਸਭ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਤੋ ਵੱਧ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਓ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਾ ਇਸ ਨੇਕ ਮਕਸਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਏ।
