The FlyAmritsar Initiative has been working as civil society, non-government campaign working as focused approach for assisting in the development of Amritsar airport.

This Initiative was started in 2015-2016 to expand horizons, take forward the advocacy work as civil society’s public service initiative that our parent organisation Amritsar Vikas Manch had started in late 1990’s keeping in view of the needs of global Punjabi population for flying directly to the holy city Amritsar.

Our aim is to connect with different world airlines and governments to put forward our vision in order to encourage them to start direct flights to Amritsar-ATQ.

Amritsar is the largest and most important city in Punjab and is a major commercial, cultural, and transportation center. It is also the centre of Sikhism and the site of the Sikhs’ principal place of worship—the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple.

The Punjabi’s living abroad are very much interested to fly directly to Amritsar for paying obeisance at the most sacred Sri Harimandir Sahib which is a must visit place for them whenever they come to India. Besides these aspects ‘Amritsar’ is rated as 5th among 10 most visited places in the world.

There is very large population of Punjabi Community spread across Canada, United States, United Kingdom & Europe who have been demanding direct flights to Amritsar for the last 3-4 decades. The Non Stop flights to Amritsar are needed from Vancouver, Toronto, London Heathrow that will link whole of North America, Europe, UK with Punjab. It will also give huge relief to the people of Himachal, J&K settled abroad.
