Support Overnight Street Parking for Resident's Trade and Commercial Vehicles in Baltimore

Support Overnight Street Parking for Resident's Trade and Commercial Vehicles in Baltimore
The Issue
Baltimore City has recently begun enforcing a rule that bans commercial vehicles - like work vans and smaller service vehicles - from parking overnight on city streets.
This rule disproportionately impacts the city's tradespeople, contractors, technicians, and other blue-collar professionals who rely on these vehicles to make a living. For many, their work van is not just their singular mode of transportation — it’s their livelihood. Preventing them from parking outside their homes marginalizes a small group of working class residents, and places a significant burden on those who already contribute so much to our city’s infrastructure.
We respectfully urge the city to:
Create a special permit program that allows residents with trade or commercial vehicles to park overnight on the street near their homes and recognize the vital role of these professionals in Baltimore's economy and community.
The current policy is a deterrent to skilled workers who want to live and work in Baltimore. Let’s not push out the people who keep our homes, businesses, and economy running.
We believe that Baltimore can find a balanced, fair solution that supports both residents and the needs of the city.
Please join us in calling for a more equitable policy.
