During the past months, it has been increasingly difficult to witness the leadership of SEIU-UHW, an organization renowned for championing workers' rights, replicate tactics we vociferously challenge in our workplaces. As members, we are compelled to extend our unwavering solidarity to the staff union, those who stand side by side with us every day, ensuring fair wages, dignity, respect, and secure working environments for healthcare workers across California.

It is troublesome to observe actions that contradict the very values we collectively uphold. SEIU-UHW staff tirelessly battle to protect our rights and elevate our voices. Their dedication amidst this contradiction is a testament to their integrity and commitment. Now, more than ever, they require our steadfast support to gain the fair treatment they unequivocally deserve.

The irony in this situation cannot be overstated. How can we rally against unjust labor practices yet remain silent when they occur within our own ranks? This mirrors the issue we fervently strive to rectify in countless negotiations and campaigns. As members who understand the struggles and triumphs of the labor movement, it is crucial we hold our leadership to the same standards we demand from external employers.

To SEIU-UHW President Dave Regan and the leadership team: this petition is a clear demand to come to the negotiation table with your staff union and address their requests earnestly and justly. Respectful and fair treatment within our organization will only strengthen our union and bolster our ability to advocate effectively for all. We as members have created this call on our own efforts, and believe that in order to successfully pass Prop 40 this election season, we must come together, staff, leadership and membership.

Inaction is not an option if we are to preserve the credibility and core mission of SEIU-UHW. Upholding our values starts from within, setting a powerful example for the change we wish to implement collectively in other arenas. Our voices have power, and it's time to use them for our very own advocates.
