United Communities for Sensible Development (UC4SD)
Jul 3, 2017
Dear Concerned Citizens, Update! On June 27, the San Jose City Council “delayed” approving the three urban village plans for Stevens Creek Blvd, Winchester and Santana Row. This was very likely due to concerns expressed by the community and neighboring cities regarding unresolved impacts on public services, traffic and general quality of life for the existing residents. New letters of correspondence from the cities of Cupertino and Santa Clara were sent before the meeting. US Congress member Ro Khanna has also weighed in with a letter. http://www.uc4sd.com/stevens-creek-urban-village/scuv-cupertino-response http://www.uc4sd.com/stevens-creek-urban-village/scuv-santa-clara-response http://www.uc4sd.com/stevens-creek-urban-village/congress-member The three urban village plans are now tentatively scheduled for an August 2017 vote. At the Jun 27th meeting, developers’ representatives were present and pressed for approval of the plan, and they will not stop! We will continue to keep you and the public informed of further developments. Please continue to: - support the petition by sharing with neighbors, (http://tiny.cc/NoHighRise-Petition) - contact San Jose Councilman Chappie Jones and the city council with your thoughts, (http://uc4sd.com/who-to-contact) - contact US Congress member Anna Eshoo’s office if you live in San Jose to request supporting the community’s concerns, as her district covers the urban villages. (http://eshoo.house.gov/contact/) And most of all, celebrate our freedom of expression and democracy in action this July 4th!
