Sign Urgency of Normal's Open Letter to CDC!

On June 21st, Urgency of Normal released a letter calling for a new paradigm at the CDC for COVID-19 policies as they pertain to children and a return to normalcy. The letter was addressed to Dr. Ashish Jha, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director, CDC and may be seen here: urgencyofnormal.com
The CDC’s current school COVID-19 guidelines are out-of-step with where we are in the trajectory from pandemic to endemic disease. The emergency phase of COVID-19 is over.
Urgency of Normal calls upon the CDC to update current guidelines to reflect the era of endemic management in which infections are treated similarly to other seasonal respiratory viruses, which do not require routine testing or isolation. The U.S. must join its peer countries in recognizing the importance of restoring equitable and maximal access to education, sports, and social connectedness for all children. It is time to honor young people’s diverse health needs and update the CDC’s guidelines accordingly. Our children’s health and well-being depend on it.
