The Issue

Wallingford Park has been a cherished community space for many years. This project aims to provide much needed practice fields for Lincoln HS, the largest school in the district, and create more usable outdoor space for Hamilton MS and the local community.

Project Benefits

  • Increased Student Safety: ​Close, dedicated practice fields means fewer students crossing busy streets for early morning and evening practices.​
  • Save on Transportation Costs While Reducing Emissions: Lincoln has more kids playing sports than any other Seattle High School, having practice fields within walking distance lowers transportation needs and emissions. ​
  • No Impact to Current Amenities: The existing playground, wading pool, and other park features will be maintained.​

We encourage you to review the project website, where you will see concerns being raised by opponents to turfing the fields.  If you still believe in getting this project done, we need you to voice your support by signing this petition.  Opponents have already mobilized and gathered hundreds of signatures.
