Restore Hope: Help Mike Be Part of Neuralink's Blindness Clinical Trial

Michael John Tucker lost his vision to NAION (Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy) in a devastating six-month span—his left eye in November 2023, his right in May 2024. But he has not lost his drive, his health, or his purpose.

Mike is an inspiring Montanan: a lifelong mountaineer who has summited all seven of the ice-capped volcanoes in the Cascades (including Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker), a father of three, a grandfather of five, a respected publisher of a local magazine, and a man with a community-wide support system.

In the face of blindness, Mike has done everything possible to find solutions. He’s participated in multiple clinical trials, overhauled his diet to reduce inflammation, quit smokeless tobacco, and—in August 2024—underwent direct stem cell treatment through the STEM2 clinical trial. He continues to hike independently, walking 8–15 miles at a time with his loyal border collie, Doakes.

Mike is in excellent physical condition, mentally sharp, and deeply committed to advancing medical science. He regularly updates a large social media following with the honest highs and lows of his journey, inspiring many others facing vision loss.

We believe Mike is the ideal candidate for Neuralink’s vision restoration clinical trial—and we ask Neuralink and Elon Musk to consider his inclusion.
