A few things . . . I created a new website at http://www.supportmadisonpolice.com/ It's currently barebones, but I'll be adding to it in the coming weeks. Change.org has been a great venue - and we'll be keeping our petitions here - but WordPress offers more options that will ultimately better serve our purpose. I do have the email service setup, so I encourage you to go to the new site and subscribe if you want to be kept in the loop - as I'll eventually be migrating everything over to the new site. You can subscribe anonymously and un-subscribe at any time. I'm setting up the new site in-between piles of work, deadlines, and other obligations. There's seriously not enough time in the day. But this kind of stuff keeps me motivated . . . Having said that, I would still like to remain anonymous Anyway, between 4 AM and 7 AM, the West Police District, a vast geographical area with 85,000 residents, is staffed by 4 patrol officers and a Sgt. The city can crunch the numbers all they want to justify these abysmal staffing numbers, but I can tell you I do not feel safe after 4 AM with these numbers, shockingly low when compared with nearby agencies (Fitchburg, Middleton, etc.). . . " It breaks my heart to read this, and it ticks me off that city officials just don't seem to get it. If you're the police officer who wrote this or are another officer with concerns, let's meet for coffee. Ditto if you're a citizen with influence or just have good ideas.
