An article in today's Wall Street Journal confirms what many of us already know: that policing is at a juncture.
This is not just a problem for law enforcement, either. When good cops are second-guessing themselves for fear of retribution, and solid applicants are not applying en masse anymore, we're all impacted.
Cops are the only wall standing between a civilized society and anarchy. If certain segments of society continue to relentlessly vilify law enforcement, I fear we'll all lose.
Which is why it's never been as critical to support law enforcement - and why we'll continue to stand up for Madison PD.
Somebody made a statement that by supporting MPD, we're taking "sides." Our goal isn't to add to our already-divided planet. Heck, it seems that an adversarial attitude is attached to just about every possible topic these days - even the innocuous ones.
Our little grassroots group emerged because we saw - and continue to see - good people being disparaged. Our petition, signs, swag, and appreciation parties are the least we could do to support those who have our backs every single day.
All the best.
