Hi everyone, Yes, we're still here, standing strong in our support of Chief Koval & Madison PD. Here's what we've been up to . . . This evening, 13 of us signed a letter crafted by a member of our group, in support of MPD. The letter, on its way to the US Department of Justice, counters the complaint letter sent by various city leaders this past week. Please stay tuned for more on this. And this morning, I followed up with Mayor Soglin's office about the status of the petition we presented at the 7/19 common council meeting. I will continue to followup with the mayor's office, and will let you know when (if) there's movement on it. I know you probably have a lot of other things on your plate (as do we), but it's essential to continue to show support for this department. There are simple ways to make a positive difference. For instance . . . 1. Let your elected officials and those running for office know you support law enforcement. If a politician makes a sweeping, false, or disingenuous comment about police officers, call him or her out on it. I contacted one just this afternoon. 2. Take time to craft a letter to the editor at the Wisconsin State Journal, Cap Times, or other local paper. 3. Continue to share this petition. 4. Continue to display We Support MPD yard signs, and ask your neighbors to do the same. You can pick up at these addresses: Southwest Madison: 1705 Redwood Lane Northeast Madison: 1717 Elka Lane East Madison: 5345 Queensbridge Road West Madison: 5213 Loruth Terrace Don't be afraid to speak up for something you believe in. My experience is that those in power often make seemingly senseless decisions because the majority doesn't want to get involved. All the best. : ) --Paula Fitzsimmons
