Support local flowers - Make Country of Origin Labelling Mandatory

The issue

Right now, when you buy a bunch of flowers, there's no way to tell if they were grown here in Australia or shipped from overseas. Unlike our food, flowers have no requirement for country-of-origin labelling. This lack of transparency hurts everyone.

BIOSECURITY: Imported Flowers are a major pathway for pests and diseases that threaten Australian farms and native ecosystems. 10 of our introduced pests were bought in on imported flowers.

CONSUMER CHOICE: Australians should have the right to know what they're buying, and to support local flower farmers if they wish.

ENVIRONMENT: Imported flowers travel thousands of kilometres, creating a heavy carbon footprint compared to fresh, local blooms.

LOCAL GROWERS: Family run flower farms across Australia struggle to compete fairly when consumers don't know what's local

We want mandatory country of origin labelling for all cut flowers sold in Australia. Just like with food, consumers deserve transparency. Clear labelling will protect our environment, strengthen our flower industry, and empower Australians to make informed choices

Let's start the conversation and  'Ask where your flowers are from'.
