For the past several months, the Board of the Lawyers Committee has been hard at work preparing a groundbreaking legal and evidentiary submission to the U. S. Department of Justice, requesting the appointment of a grand jury. A formal announcement is planned this month. As signers of this petition, you will be among the first to receive it, along with selected media. During these months, several other important actions under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) have also been before governmental agencies, but have not been adjudicated. As virtually all of the Committee's time has been expended on these matters, we have not had the resources we might have liked to devote to public relations. But through various networks, the word has been getting out that at long last, legal avenues are being pursued in this important area. Although our Change.org fundraiser has not been very effective, supporters have also contributed directly through the Lawyers Committee website, and we assure all contributors that your gifts have been important in sustaining our efforts so far.
