SUPPORT JUDICIAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Remove Judge McPherson from Panola Co. Court at Law

SUPPORT JUDICIAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Remove Judge McPherson from Panola Co. Court at Law
The Issue
We, the undersigned citizens of Texas, affirm our support for the Chapter 87 petition to remove Judge Rick McPherson from office.
Judge McPherson previously served as an Assistant District Attorney and personally participated in cases over which he later presided as judge. This dual role violates the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct and the Due Process Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees every citizen a fair and impartial tribunal.
In one such case, Judge McPherson issued orders affecting a vulnerable child despite having prior prosecutorial involvement. These orders are void under Texas law and have caused ongoing harm to the child and family involved. Many citizens have come forward with their own accounts of problems with Judge McPherson and we believe that judicial integrity is essential to public trust. When a judge acts as both prosecutor and adjudicator in the same matter, it undermines the rule of law and endangers the rights of those seeking justice.
This petition is not an act of hostility—it is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to petition the government for redress of grievances. Chapter 87 of the Texas Local Government Code exists to protect the public from misconduct, abuse of office, and threats to justice.
We call on the appropriate authorities to investigate these violations and take action to restore accountability and protect the well-being of children and families affected by judicial misconduct.
