As the President of Irish Actor's Equity, Gerry O' Brien has stated:

“What many of our colleagues in the US and UK may not be aware of, is that local Irish performers working on US or UK co-productions are signing contracts that may deny them residual payments. Buy-out Contracts. Even when working alongside colleagues from abroad who maybe working on US or UK contracts that provide for structural residual payments. I have not received any residual payments for any work undertaken in my own country since 2000”
