In my opinion, my goal is not to have the Eden Cemetery clear-cut or change the tree hammock and natural growth that give it its character. There's a rumor about another old iron fence near Hutchinson's fence. There can be no heavy construction, no major disturbance done on this property. Survey of the cemetery boundary's $800-$1,250. Remove dead vegetation and exotic vegetation (pepper trees) by hand (no machines on the interior of the property) - $10,000 to $15,000. Clean up the perimeter and prepare for fence installation- $5,000 to $7,000. Install a aluminum fence (or whatever the county recommends), around the perimeter to protect and define the cemetery. $30,000-$45,000. Add a parking area (two shell rock parking spaces) with a walking path through the tree canopy to the headstones. $3,000- $7,500. St. Lucie County manages a $780 million capital budget based on $39 billion in taxable property value, up 10.5 percent from last year. Estimated totals: $48,000-$74,750 for the work at the cemetery is less then one one-hundredth of a percent (0.01%) of St. Lucie County's $780 million budget. You are not signing this petition for my opinions- you are signing it so we will have your support to get an answer from the county on what they intend to start doing for the Eden Cemetery. These are a few of my opinions of what could make the cemetery safe and accessible again, I have many more, LOL. The photo shows a rough map of the location of the headstones and the iron fence. Thank you for your support, and I will keep you posted on the progress.
