The Issue

Eight years ago Onchan Park was saved from being sold for development and funding was raised for a new multi-use games area and table tennis tables. Since then, we have been working hard to get full support from Gedling Borough Council for funding bids. The play equipment is old, dirty and dilapidated, parts of the equipment have been removed for safety, areas of the paving and steps are unsafe and we are recognised by GBC as the park in the poorest condition in the county. Our once immaculate bowling green has been left to deteriorate so that children can no longer use it for football or open space games due to holes, trenches and uneven ground putting children at risk of injury.
We now have the opportunity to get full support from Gedling Borough Council, to bid for funding to replace the play area with new equipment, including facilities for children with disabilities, new swings and climbing frames; The opportunity to resurface the old bowling green to provide a space for children to play games including football, rounders, chase games and to run around and have fun.
We can return Onchan Park to its glory days! A beautiful space where children can play, grow and learn their independence in a safe and inviting space, where families can enjoy the sports and play facilities together and where our community can come together to celebrate life!
To do this we need your support.
Please sign our petition to let Gedling Borough Council and our funding facilitators know that our park needs saving and we fully support the redevelopment of Onchan Park.
