The Byron Shire Mayor, Michael Lyon, and I have been working together to try and move the Rail Trail forward on much of the rail corridor in Byron Shire.

At the council meeting on Thursday he and I have agreed on a motion to get on with planning and seeking funding for an on formation Rail Trail from Byron Bay through Bangalow to Booyong and from Mullumbimby north to Crabbes Creek.

The motion will read something like this:

That Council proceeds with the planning, approval process, and preparation of an application for funding to implement on formation rail trails from the old Mullumbimby station to Crabbes Creek and from the old Byron Bay station, through Bangalow to Booyong.
