Support for a Bike/Walking Trail from Chatham Bridge to Ferry Farm

The Issue

When the massive, 16-month Chatham Bridge restoration was completed, it specifically designated a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists to have protected passage between Fredericksburg City and Stafford County across the Rappahannock River. The problem now is that there is no safe or adequate route to connect South Stafford residents in the Ferry Farm and Grafton Village areas to the bridge via bike or foot. Current routes are incredibly unsafe and expose pedestrians or cyclists to the immediate proximity of 4-lane traffic travelling in excess of 50 MPH. While there are multiple potential trail routes to consider and many property rights to respect, we are simply asking Stafford County to make the completion of this long-overdue and much-needed trail a priority in their upcoming Capital Improvement Projects list. Thanks!
