Support fair and equitable rates for CCRC Graziers

Support fair and equitable rates for CCRC Graziers
The issue
Cassowary Coast Regional Council charge local Graziers the highest rates in QLD, 66% higher than the next highest along the East Coast of QLD. Around 2.5 times higher than the QLD East Coast average grazing rates and even higher again than the QLD average as a whole. CCRC may well have the highest Grazing rates in Australia??
In comparison to grazing rates for neighboring LGAs, CCRC are 5 times higher than Tablelands grazing properties over 5000Ha, 3.25 times higher than Tablelands grazing properties under 5000Ha. 3.1 times higher than Cairns and 2.4 times higher than Hinchinbrook.
CCRC are the only, what could be considered, high "rates in the dollar" QLD LGA who do not have multiple primary production rating categories. All other high "rates in the dollar" LGAs have multiple primary production rates categories addressing this inequity for Graziers.
The last time a formal community rate reference group was formed to specifically provide input to council was in 2016. Unfortunately, at the time it was decided not to establish a separate rating category for grazing. The imbalance for CCRC Graziers has only deteriorated further since then.
A paper was recently submitted to council in regard to Grazier rates and can be seen in full at bit.ly/GrazingRatesCCRC please note this address is case sensitive.
Please register your support for fair and equitable rates for Graziers, The CCRC budget process starts in February, so your immediate action is requested.
