For over seven years, we have dedicated our efforts toward building an Instagram platform, @thevanillaissue, for budding fashion designers. It had grown to a following of 400K+. The Vanilla issue, has been instrumental in kick-starting careers and fostering exposure for emerging designers globally.

The page was even featured on Vogue for our contribution to the fashion industry. Link below:

However, this progress came to a halting stop when Instagram’s technology disabled the account on the 16th of July, 2024. In all these years, @thevanillaissue has diligently abided by Instagram's policies, offering a trustworthy, indispensable platform for empowering emerging fashion designers. But unfortunately, this critical work is now endangered as we were denied a fair appeal process. 

The sudden termination has not only affected the stylists, photographers, models, and students we strived to support, but it has left a gaping hole in the fashion community we've helped build. This sets a concerning precedent for other unique and diverse platforms that would face similar predicaments.

We have collaborated with numerous fashion schools and universities to promote their graduates. By providing a platform for final-year projects and graduate collections, we help new designers gain visibility and recognition in the industry. Our efforts have been instrumental in bridging the gap between academic achievements and professional opportunities, fostering a supportive community for young talent. 

Instagram must reconsider their decision and restore @thevanillaissue so we can continue to back emerging talents, lend them exposure opportunities, provide support, and give life to the dreams of future fashion students and small brands everywhere.
