Birthright citizenship ensures that every child born on U.S. soil is granted citizenship, regardless of the parents' nationality. This right is enshrined in the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." This essential provision has been a cornerstone of American identity, fostering a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed based solely on their abilities and potential.

In Idaho, approximately 11% of the population is composed of immigrants and their children. Removing birthright citizenship could have devastating effects on these families, significantly altering their lives and futures. It could lead to increased uncertainty, fear, and division among communities that have thrived through diversity and mutual support.

Moreover, studies have shown that immigrants bring notable economic benefits to local communities. According to research, they contribute billions to the economy, pay taxes, and create vital cultural exchanges that enrich our society.
