Support Bill S.897 to Legalize Movable Tiny Houses in Massachusetts!

The Issue

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has yet to join the growing number of states that have legalized movable tiny houses. By legalizing movable tiny houses, Massachusetts can address its housing affordability crisis, while also promoting sustainable living. This change would not only benefit potential homeowners but also contribute positively to the local economy by giving an option for workers (teachers, farmers, seasonal workers, etc.) by reducing overall living costs. Movable tiny houses are a great opportunity for those with student loan debt, those who want space for their aging family, and those who want to live a sustainable life and reduce their carbon footprint to address the issues of climate change.

We urge lawmakers in Massachusetts to consider this viable solution and enact legislation allowing movable tiny houses in our state. Legalizing movable tiny homes as primary habitable dwellings and ADU’s (Accessory Dwelling Units) allow financing institutions to lend funds. Bill S.897 is an opportunity for an affordable housing option that Massachusetts is lacking. This bill is currently in the Massachusetts legislature to define, categorize and legalize Movable Tiny Houses as primary residences and detached ADU’s. Please sign this petition if you believe everyone deserves access to affordable, sustainable housing options, which include Movable Tiny Houses.

Sincerely,

The Massachusetts Movable Tiny House Task Force Members
