As a concerned member of the Saint Mary College community, I believe it is our responsibility to address the deficit of financial literacy within our society. This issue is personal to me because I firmly believe that we need to equip future leaders with basic tools for success and active participation in the economy.

Bill AB-526 aims at promoting financial literacy within K-12 education across California, an initiative that could significantly impact future generations. However, this bill needs more support and awareness to be enacted successfully.

According to the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC), lack of financial knowledge costs Americans $415 billion dollars annually. This staggering figure underscores just how critical it is for us as a society to prioritize financial education from an early age.
