On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Congressman Al Green delivered powerful remarks on the House floor, introducing H.Res.537, an article of impeachment against Donald Trump for launching military action against Iran without Congressional approval.
This was Rep. Green’s second impeachment resolution in just weeks—his first was submitted on May 15, 2025. By invoking House Rule IX, Green forced leadership to act this time, and fast. This rule requires the House to take up questions of constitutional privilege, like impeachment, within 48 hours.
But instead of debating it, yesterday, within 2 hours time, the House tabled the resolution—effectively shutting it down—with a 344-vote majority, made up of both Republicans and Democrats.
Here’s what that means:
“Tabling” a resolution doesn’t kill it forever. It just means they chose to set it aside instead of engaging with it.

The good news? It’s not over.79 Democrats stood their ground and voted "NO" on tabling the resolution. These are the members who support impeachment—and they’re not alone.

🔁 So, What Happens Next?
Here’s how we can still get this back on the floor:
1. Reintroduce the Resolution ➡️ Any Representative—especially one of the 79 who voted “no”—can re-file the same or a revised article of impeachment. There’s no limit to how many times it can be submitted.
2. Invoke Rule IX Again ➡️ Just like before, a member can invoke Rule IX again. This forces the House to act—either to debate it or vote on tabling it again.
3. Build Public Pressure ➡️ The more attention and public support this issue gets, the harder it becomes for Congress to ignore it. Your voice counts. Every signature adds weight. Every share spreads momentum.
