Everything Is Not Okay — And I’m Not Going to Pretend It Is

I haven’t posted since May 15. Not because I stopped caring. Not because I got lazy. Because the past four days have completely kicked my ass.
I’ve been trying to keep up with the news, trying to stay loud, trying to be strong — but the truth is, I got overwhelmed.

Let me catch you up.

We are literally debating birthright citizenship.
Yes, the Supreme Court — the highest court in this country — is actually entertaining arguments over whether children born in the United States are citizens. Something that is clearly stated in the 14th Amendment. LIVE: Supreme Court HOLDS MAJOR Oral Argument on CITIZENSHIP
How the hell is this even a question? We fought a civil war to make this right a reality. It’s written in black and white. And now? They're acting like maybe it’s open to interpretation.
I don’t even fully understand all the legal terms. “Nationwide injunctions”? "Standing"? But I know this: when a president signs an executive order attacking the Constitution, the courts should stop it. Not debate it. Not negotiate with fascism.

Moody’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating for the first time ever.

Let that sink in. The United States is now considered less financially trustworthy than it has ever been. And you know why? Because the government is in chaos.
We’re racking up debt while Trump is cutting taxes for billionaires, and threatening to slash Medicaid and food assistance like citizens are disposable.

Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” failed — but not because it went too far.
It failed because Republicans didn’t think it went far enough.
The massive Medicaid cuts in the bill weren’t deep enough for them. The food stamp cuts weren’t brutal enough. They want more pain. More cruelty. They are so far gone they’re rejecting a bill that would’ve hurt millions, because it didn’t hurt them enough.
That’s the only time they argue with Trump — when he’s not cruel enough. That’s where we are now. ***According to the New York Times they are supposed to vote on the bill again Sunday night 5/18/25.

Trump accepted a $400 million plane from Qatar.
He calls it a “gift.” I call it corruption in broad daylight. The kind of move that would’ve ended a presidency in any remotely functional democracy. But we’re not living in that place anymore, are we? trump-middle-east-trip-qatar-air-force-one

(To add insult to injury, this week) Trump Insulted The Boss
That is right! Trump insulted Bruce Springsteen, and what I read at the end of his rant sounded like a threat. trump-bruce-springsteen

And I’m asking myself: why is he doing all this?
Is he trying to destroy the country?
Honestly? I don’t think he thinks he is. I think he’s doing what he’s always done: looking out for himself, feeding his ego, enriching his inner circle, and punishing anyone who stands in his way.
But intentions don’t matter when the result is this kind of devastation. He may not see himself as a destroyer, but that’s exactly what he is.
He surrounds himself with extremists who do want to burn it all down — Project 2025 is not a theory, it’s a plan. A very real blueprint for dismantling civil rights, public services, and democratic safeguards, and replacing it all with loyalty, fear, and raw power.

I’m tired. But I’m not done.
I started this petition because I refuse to accept this as normal. This isn’t politics. This is survival. Rep. Al Green filed articles of impeachment against Donald Trump on May 15. I support him, fully. But he shouldn’t be alone in this. We need to back him — and pressure everyone else in Congress to grow a spine and do the same.
So if you’re as sick and furious as I am please forward the petition to like-minded friends.

And if you want to help get the petition in front of more people, I made a shirt. It says what we mean.

I’m not neutral. I’m a human being, living through something terrifying, and refusing to shut up about it. If you’re feeling the same, please, don’t disappear. Speak up. Rage. Cry. Sign. Share. We have to keep going.
