NAMI MA has included this survey in their most recent newsletter:
SURVEY ALERT: Survey on Frequency of Hospitalizations
The Wildflower Alliance are seeking people who have experienced psychiatric hospitalization or who have loved ones who've experienced hospitalization to complete a survey on frequency of hospitalizations and similar.
The title of the survey is misleading and asks several questions specifically about what they term involuntary outpatient commitment (IOC). The AOT legislation is gaining ground in Massachusetts and this is yet another way to misinform people about what bringing this life-saving law to Massachusetts would mean. We need the opposition (including NAMI MA) to hear our voices loud and clear. Please take the time to fill out the survey to show why AOT is needed in Massachusetts - how would it have changed the outcome for your loved one? If you live in a state that has AOT, please let them know how it benefited your loved one.
NAMI MA has a new Executive Director, Eliza Williamson. Please send an email to ewilliamson@namimass.org to let her know that it is critical to bring AOT to Massachusetts - without it many of our loved ones will end up on our streets, in our jails and prisons, cycling in and out of the hospital, or worse die. Families like ours will no longer suffer in silence!
