Support Adventure Kids Playcare to stay open
The Issue
Adventure Kids Playcare Issaquah has served this community for over 10 years and has been informed that its lease will not be renewed. When the doors close, dozens of working families many of them low income will be left without safe, affordable care for their children. This daycare has been more than just a place for our daughter to spend her day, it has been a safe haven where she has been loved and cared for by truly dedicated professionals. Each time we pick her up, we face the same delightful struggle of convincing her to leave, proof of her affection for the people and experiences she has there.
Issaquah is a beautiful and growing community, but like many cities, finding affordable and quality childcare is a significant challenge. Adventure Kids Playcare has been a lifeline for families like mine who cannot afford skyrocketing childcare prices yet refuse to compromise on quality. Unfortunately, our haven is now at risk because the landlord has chosen not to renew the lease, putting this beloved daycare center at the brink of closure.
Without Adventure Kids Playcare, numerous parents, including myself, will be forced to scramble for alternatives that are either financially burdensome or do not meet the high standards our children deserve. The emotional and logistical challenges of finding equivalent childcare are immense, and losing this center would be devastating to many families in our community.
We understand that business decisions must make sense financially, but we urge the landlord to consider the community impact and potential solutions that might allow Adventure Kids Playcare to continue its invaluable service. Options such as renegotiating the lease terms, even temporarily, seeking a community partner, or finding an investor willing to support the daycare can be lifesaving not just for the center but for the families it serves. The only intention of this petition is to try to work together to find a solution, not force anyone to work against their own interests.
You have the legal right to decline a lease renewal. But you also have the power and we believe, the responsibility to consider the human impact of that decision. The families and caregivers who depend on Adventure Kids Playcare are not abstractions. They are your neighbors. They are the workers who keep this region running. They are customers of the businesses in the other units leased by your tenants. A community that cannot afford to care for its children is a community in decline.
We are not asking you to sacrifice your interests. We are asking you to sit down, listen and find a path that doesn't destroy something irreplaceable for the sake of a higher rent check. The right thing and the profitable thing are not always opposites and right now we need you to choose the right thing.
Please join me in signing this petition to urge the landlord to reconsider their decision. Together, we can show how much Adventure Kids Playcare means to us all and preserve the place our children have come to love and depend on. Your signature will help raise awareness and support for this important cause, giving a fighting chance to Adventure Kids Playcare to continue being a beacon of care and support in our community. Sign this petition and help us save what care truly means to Issaquah families.
What we asking:
- Renew Adventure Kids Playcare lease at a fair and sustainable rate.
- Commit to a long-term lease of at least 5 years to give the center stability to plan, hire, and serve families.
- Engage in good-faith negotiation with the daycare's owners before pursuing any other tenant.
- Meet with affected families, staff, and community members to understand what is truly at stake.
Behind every drop off and pickup at Adventure Kids Playcare are the dedicated caregivers who have chosen one of the hardest and most undervalued jobs there is, caring for other people's children with patience, warmth, and genuine love. Many of them have worked here for years, building deep bonds with the children and families they serve. In an industry where positions are scarce and wages rarely reflect the true value of what these caregivers give, they deserve more than a sudden farewell.
