We are parents and supporters of French Immersion in Vancouver writing to ask the Vancouver School Board to allow the current Grade 6 French Immersion cohort at Henry Hudson Elementary to complete Grade 7 at their home school.

Families were informed mid-cohort that students must either transfer schools for one year or abandon French Immersion, despite prior assurances and a Board-approved phase-out plan that committed to supporting the program and reviewing options when enrolment fell below thresholds.

This request is limited to a single cohort for a single year and is focused on fairness, continuity, and minimizing student harm — not on reopening or expanding programs.

We respectfully urge the Board to support a one-year transitional solution that allows these students to complete Grade 7 French Immersion at Henry Hudson in 2026-2027.
