Good afternoon friends of Canadian Surf & SUP!
Over 50 Class A and B members attended a CSAsurf AGM this past Tuesday. Some of you who signed this petition were there to witness the AGM.
The 20 year Executive Director,Dom Domic, was removed from his position and the members elected 3 new Board Members and a President.
The future of CSAsurf is so much brighter and we would like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to sign this petition. You made a difference to thousands of athletes that were affected by the lack of governance prior to this AGM.
Unfortunately we are not ready to claim a full victory.
The new President of the CSAsurf ( Lionel Conacher) was called out in the AGM for many conflicts of interest. The nominations committee was also riddled with conflicts as it included all men and the father of elite athlete, Erin Brooks.
Unfortunately there was only the 1 option of voting for Lionel Conacher as president.
We are confident that the other board members will insist on a democratic process and that a new President will be in place after his term ends in 2 years. We must be patient and trust in the directors capabilities.
In the mean time, we will keep this petitiion running to update you on CSAsurf governance. We will continue to blow the whistle on conflict of interest and unethical surf governance.
