The Issue

Running ADHD and autism workshops across Coventry and Warwickshire, I've witnessed the dire need for a dedicated space that provides support and community to families impacted by neurodiversity. With limited funding, I've also seen how this lack of resources leaves many families isolated and struggling to access the help they desperately need.

This issue is deeply personal to me as I’ve seen the overwhelming demand first-hand. The current system can't accommodate everyone in need, and it’s heartbreaking to turn people away when their need for support is clear. The situation has become even more critical with the recent change in policy that prevents adults over 25 from being referred for assessment. We cannot continue to leave them behind.

To address this increasing demand for support and connection, I propose establishing a daily ADHD & Neurodiversity Hub right here in Coventry. This hub would serve as a safe, supportive sanctuary, offering advice, sensory rooms, SEND support, and a café space for relaxation and interaction. It would also host workshops that strengthen community ties and empower individuals and families.

Statistics reveal the increasing need for mental health and neurodiversity-related support, with institutions like the NHS identifying a significant rise in diagnoses and the requirement for support services. However, the stark reality is that many services are overwhelmed and underfunded, leaving vulnerable families without adequate care.

A dedicated hub would not only provide a refuge for families needing support but also act as an invaluable community resource, decreasing isolation and fostering understanding and inclusivity. Potential benefits include improving mental health outcomes, empowering parents with knowledge and community, and creating a more inclusive society.

To make this vision a reality, we need the collective voice of the community. Let’s show local authorities and potential funders that there is a demonstrable need for a daily neurodiversity hub, a place where everyone feels understood and valued.

Please sign this petition to support the creation of a daily ADHD & Neurodiversity Hub in Coventry. Together, we can make a difference. Let's stand united for a more inclusive and supportive community.
