🎬 Support a Community-Led Future for Collaroy Cinema
The Issue
For almost 90 years, Collaroy Cinema has been part of the fabric of life on the Northern Beaches.
Generations of locals have visited the cinema for first dates, family outings, school holidays, live performances, community events and unforgettable movie experiences. More than just a place to watch films, Collaroy Cinema has been a gathering place, a landmark and a cherished part of our local identity.
The recent closure of the cinema has left many in our community wondering what comes next.
A group of local residents is exploring whether a community-led future could help preserve and revitalise Collaroy Cinema as a vibrant and sustainable venue for the Northern Beaches.
Our vision is not simply to reopen a cinema. It is to explore the future of a community-focused cultural destination that may include:
🎬 Film and cinema experiences
🍿 Independent, foreign and classic film programming
🏄 Surf films, local stories and cultural events
🍸 A restored heritage bar and social space
🎵 Live music, comedy and special events
🎭 Theatre, arts and community performances
🤝 Community gatherings and local partnerships
💙 Programs that promote wellbeing, culture and connection
Before developing any formal proposal, we want to demonstrate that the community cares about the future of Collaroy Cinema.
