Metro, The City of Alexandria, Springfield Supervisors Office, and the media are asking people to consider alternatives during the 2019 Summer shutdown by Metro to rebuild dangerous platforms. They continue to encourage people to Slug however NO ONE has  reached out to the slug-line community (us) to assess the capacity of available parking currently in existence. Slugging should not be considered a viable option unless they provide, lease, rent, buy, etc. additional parking spaces. It is irresponsible to push people to slugging when the currently existing available parking is bursting at the seams. Fairfax County needs to find viable options for temporary additional spaces from May 25-September 5th or provide usage of the Metro Garages with no cost to sluggers. 6,000 people ride the metro daily from Springfield/Franconia. https://www.wmata.com/about/records/public_docs/upload/2018_historical_rail-ridership_May-weekday-avg.pdf
