You may have heard in recent days about one of the most hypocritical and downright cruel betrayals in UK corporate history.
A group of major UK businesses, including KFC, Nando’s, Burger King, and Wagamamas, have set up a so-called ‘Sustainable Chicken Forum’. Their first move? To announce a u-turn on their promises to stop using cruelly-bred Frankenchickens.
The outrage has come swiftly from all quarters, with the news being covered extensively in the press and on social media. Now, Chris Packham has spoken out in a passionate video, attacking this regressive and deeply hypocritical move by a gang of big businesses.
[CHICKENS NEED YOUR HELP - EMAIL COMPANY BOSSES NOW]
I’m sure you share Chris’ horror. It’s obvious to anyone - these companies have ganged up to protect their profit at the expense of chickens, the environment, the UK public, and farmers.
But the future is clear. The likes of M&S and Waitrose have already removed Frankenchickens from sale, and the UK Government has announced support for the industry to move away from the use of these cruel breeds. In Europe, countries like Norway are beginning to completely phase out the use of Frankenchickens.
It is frustrating—infuriating—when giant corporations stand in the way of progress (especially when they do it with such astounding hypocrisy). But, you know what? They wouldn’t be doing this if they weren’t scared of the power we have. We’ve been lifting the cover on the jaw-dropping cruelty behind the chicken industry for the past decade and people are waking up to it in their millions.
Will you use our simple action page to send an email to bosses at these companies now, demanding they do better?
