Dear animal lover,
I'm writing to you from outside Co-op's AGM in Manchester, the most important event of their year.
A moment ago, frustrated Co-op members interrupted the event (watch video) in a peaceful protest against Co-op's horrific chicken cruelty scandal.
Like you, these members are fed up with Co-op's cruelty. Last year, they voted to end the cruel use of Frankenchickens alongside 96% of other voting members.
But Co-op bosses ignored the vote.
The result? A catastrophe for animals. Every day, more sensitive, intelligent chickens are being born with suffering coded into their DNA for Co-op.
They just took a stand for animals. Now will you act too?
Co-op is owned by its members. For those members to be in a state of open rebellion is humiliating beyond belief for Co-op bosses.
Right now, we urgently need animal lovers like you to share this far and wide. Share a post on X (formerly Twitter) to help get the topic trending, attract national attention, and pile pressure on Co-op bosses.
Want to have extra impact? Send another tweet!
Don't have X (Twitter)? We'll be sharing more actions for you to take early next week, so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, please spread the word by sharing our petition to Co-op via Facebook or WhatsApp.
Thank you for taking action for animals. I'll be in touch again soon with more actions to help end this scandal once and for all.
For the animals,
Cordelia Britton, Head of Programs at The Humane League UK
