In a brand new video, a mermaid confined to a tiny tank thrashes about, aching for freedom, to draw attention to the plight of millions of Bettas abused by the pet industry every year. WATCH & SHARE NOW.

In the video, the Vegan Mermaid Warrior explains, "As a hobbyist mermaid, I can take my tail off and walk away anytime I want," but, she continues, "Betta fish are wild animals who live in ponds. They're sold by the millions and shipped in tiny bags around the world, deprived of food."

She goes on to reveal that many of these fish suffer from illnesses and may be sold at a discount because they're considered defective. Others die after languishing on pet store shelves.
