As beach season comes to a close and hurricane season begins, hermit crabs aren't the only wild animals in danger at Virginia Beach. When Hurricane Dorian hit coastal Virginia, several pelicans were caught in the fierce winds. Watch & share their incredible rescue story! Then, consider a generous donation to their care!
This past weekend, Hurricane Dorian's strong winds were a formidable force for several juvenile pelicans, who attempted to take flight but were thrown back into the concrete of a local bridge. One had already succumbed to a collision with a vehicle when local couple Dacia and Curtis Thorson arrived to help.
Fortunately, they managed to save three birds and get them to safety at Evelyn's Wildlife Refuge--which took in a total of 17 pelicans during the hurricane alone!
Watch the inspiring rescue today, where Dacia shares an important message about looking out for wildlife when natural disaster strikes. Then, please consider a generous donation to help these lucky survivors!
