Lobsters and crabs are sensitive animals who form deep bonds and nurse their wounds. Lobsters can live to be over 100 years old and, like us, mate for life. Crustaceans feel pain just like dogs and cats do, yet they lack the ability to go into shock. So when they are torn apart, fully conscious, limb from limb, or put into pots of water to be boiled alive, they feel every agonizing second. Some have even been documented desperately climbing out of pots of boiling water in attempt to escape their horrific fate.
New footage taken at a real grocery store in Virginia Beach reveals how these animals are treated by the seafood industry: Crabs are kept alive outside of water, slowly suffocating. Customers walk up and throw them about using salad tongs before purchasing them to take them home and boil them alive. These sensitive beings are seen as nothing more than inanimate objects for profit to the food industry.
