I'm Laura, the founder of Plight of the Hermies, and for as long as I can remember, the ocean has called my name. Only as an adult did I finally surrender and start transforming into a real-life mermaid! Now I use my fins and my passion for our planet to create change. It started with Plight of the Hermies, where for the last 5 years we've created a monumental grassroots effort to end hermit crab captivity--and now we're escalating to make waves for all marine animals, from whales and dolphins imprisoned at aquariums to the billions and billions of fish being skinned or crushed alive for food.
