Say NO to 3,000 new residents and their cars at Kimball Junction!

The Issue

The Dakota Pacific development project in the Tech Center Zone in Kimball Junction in Park City is about to be approved by the Summit County council. This project is not consistent with the approved land use for this 50 acre property so the Developer needs to get approval for a change in the land use. This means that the County Council can in fact deny the Developer the requested change and the project will not go forward as currently envisioned.

This project proposes to build an entirely new neighborhood on a 50 acre multiple plots area with nearly 2 million square feet in nearly 30 discrete buildings that includes 1100 residences with rentals (of which only 330 will be lower priced work force housing), town houses for sale, and overnight rentals (i.e. more tourists). Also included is room for retail space like a new hotel, supermarket, and other businesses. This could mean ~3000 new residents and maybe 4000 additional vehicles on 224 which is already a parking lot during the ski season and during most weekends. As we have not seen any plausible explanation for how this project will benefit the community that resides at or near Kimball Junction we hereby urge the County Council to DECLINE the rezoning and redevelopment application for the Dakota Pacific development project.
